Evaluation- Q1

Q1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

The conventions of title sequence are very important as they allow the audience to make a judgment on whether or not the film is good. I will talk about some of the conventions our title sequence used and its importance firstly our movie was of horror genre and we used ideas from the movie 'Insidious' and 'Se7en' to incorporate into our own seeing as they were both successful horror movies.

Conventions of a horror genre:
-Movie title
-Appropriate music
-characters
-cast and crew
-props
-flashback
-chase
-narration
-Mise-en-scene

Our product uses many of the usual horror conventions such as a movie title and appropriate music. The title is used in order to indicate to its audience the name of the film and what they are about to watch. this is important and a key convention in order to attract the attention of the audience and in order to engage the audience. this convention was used in our media product as we were aiming to use dramatic music in the entrance in order to build an atmosphere and create tension within the room to notify the audience that this is a horror movie.
Another convention our title sequence used was props, we used a knife and a hammer looking weapon, we did this in order to make our audience aware that this is a horror movie and violence may be involved too, we tried to create suspense by including a chase scene between our main character and the villain. this made it clear that the character was in danger therefore she was trying to escape from the villain who was ought to attack and perhaps murder her, hence why we named the movie "Escaping". We also included Mise-en-scene, the location was in our classroom however with the help of lighting and props we made the classroom look deserted and isolated which was perfect in order to make it look as if our main character (who was a young asian female) had been kidnapped.

Our media product follows a title order of....
-Production company
-Director
-Actor
-production behind the movie and finally finishes of with a title.
We decided as a group to stick to this title order as it is most common within horror movies, and seeing as the genre of our movie is horror/thriller we decided this title order would be suitable. we decided upon our title credit by looking at the title credit list in the movie 'Se7en' as we were taking inspiration from the movie.

Final idea. -Task31

We have come to a conclusion on what our title sequence is going to be about and we are going to stick to the genre of horror as it is most suitable to our target audience and we think its will be interesting to film as theres going to be a-lot of movement within the scenes.

We have decided to name our title sequence "The Escaping".

Storyline: A teenager will be kept hostage in an abandoned location by a man who may be a serial killer. in the dark room she will be left tied up to a chair. We intend to make the scenes in the room rough by making the room dark and only using mobile light for natural effect. Soon into the title scene we will see the villain attacking the teenage girl and trying to physically abuse her with a heavy weapon, and soon she will attempt to escape, however its a big risk to take as the villain has psychological issues and is desperately eager to harm the young girl.

Target Audience Task 26 (planning)

This is one of our target audience research.

We have interviewed someone who fits in our target audience sector and that is 16-24, and wider target audience is 24-45.

Editing Task 48

In today's lesson its the 19th and we decided to get some feedback on our work from our teacher Dan.
We came to a conclusion that some of the scenes we we captured looked a bit cheap and we could improve it by re-filming, and holding the camera still.
