Coraline - opening credits Task 8 (Research)

The Title Sequence of Coraline
At the beginning of the film, it begins with a very eerie and slow soundtrack playing over. The first credit that is presented is the production company of the film, followed by the name of the film (Coraline). We then see the name of the actor playing the main character (Dakota Fanning) followed by the rest of the actors’ names. Initially the credits just appear one after the other against a red background which makes the title sequence seem simplistic. However, as the sequence further develops the camera follows a rag doll floating in the air and being sewed and transformed into a new doll. Simultaneously the credits continue to appear on screen on top of the doll which focuses the audience’s attention on the doll and the credits. They typography of the credits is very simple and does not do much to reflect on the movie but this could be as to not distract the audience so much from the other visuals which set up the storyline. In Coraline the type of title sequence used is a discrete title sequence as it is its own little story within itself. The camera follows a doll and its change in appearance by the long sinister hands. The visuals are disturbing and create a very small narrative before the actual film begins.
Starts off presenting the production and filming companies
Uses a variety of camera shots and angles
Close up shots of these elements of the sequence enhance the sinister tone that the film aims to set

I can conclude that I have the ability to make strong analytic points, however I need to be able to use other forms of media to blog alongside text to further make my points clear and even stronger. Additionally my analytical skills could improve especially for my Camtasia as some of the ideas I was putting across weren't precise but very generalised. I will lastly aim to put forward what  I've learnt from the type of planning fir my re-make and what I would change if I were to re-do it.

Individual ideas/outline for a title sequence. Task 24

IDEAS FOR A TITLE SEQUENCE
Through my research I have come to an understanding that a good title sequence is one which adds snippets of the backstory and what is to come in the movie. However, it shows snippets but doesn't tell the audience what exactly happens. A title sequence is what intrigues the audience into wanting to watch the movie.
With this is in mind, I think that my idea of title sequence, with the genre of horror is a pretty good idea. It will include the soundscape of someone chewing gum, a pen tapping, and someone typing on a keyboard. All these listed previously will be the back story of our main character. Something is following her. Main story she goes camping and it follows with her...
This would effectively with our chosen genre which is horror. The ideas associated with camping is that your in the woods, away from your normal surroundings, and you have no help..
Main character would include a girl, because most horror films include a girl as a main character.

Survey monkey feedback Task 12

SURVEY MONKEY EVIDENCE

We decided as group to give out to our target audience whom are young people of the ages of 16-18. This was done so that as a group we have a clear idea of what the preferred genre is and from the results we can conclude that it is comedy and romance. Notwithstanding we will review these results and decide whether we want to do these genres or another genre.
