What is Genre? Genre in media basically means the different categories media products fall into. Genre can also be described as a certain 'type' or 'class'.
Genre preference one: Crime
Convention of the genre:
Its interesting because you don't know what to expect from the characters. It makes you eager to carry on watching the film to find out what happens to the characters also crime movies build up tension because events that take place are mostly unexpected. for example when a character gets hold of a weapon you don't know in which ways they may use it and who will get hurt in the end. This builds up excitement for the viewer.
Genre preference two: Teen comedy
Convention of the genre:
what i like most about teen comedy is that it is relatable. some teen movies make us feel like the movie is made for people of our age and it makes us excited to watch it because we know we can relate to it in some ways. also teen movies tend to have humour in it therefore we enjoy watching teen comedy movies.
Genre preference three: Rom-com
convention of the genre:
Romantic comedy movies are interesting to me because its funny yet theres seriousness to it. Rom-com movies are relaxingto watch and you could watch it with almost anyone and they would understand it unlike crime which appeals to some people not everyone.
