One of the first type of film opening is moving images. This type of film opening takes place when on the screen all we as the viewers can see is images which are taken at different shots being displayed without any text.little snippets of the movie may be appearing so that the viewer can set expectations on the movie also this may help them to identify the genre of the movie.
The second type of film opening is the establishing shot, this is when the audience are shown the setting of the film or a new setting in the film in order to update the audience so that they know where the characters are in the film. an establishing shot is usually taken at a wide or extreme wide shot so that the viewer can get a better look at the scenery.
Here are some establishing shots from 3 different movies.
1: The Devil Wears Prada
2: Psycho
3: Captain America
The third type of film opening is blank screen, this is when at the beginning of a title sequence all we can see is a blank screen however text may appear on the blank screen or there may be a narrator speaking in the background giving a small d description about the film/ or what may be happening in the film so that the viewer gains an idea of what is happening.
And The fourth type of film opening is still images this is when all the viewer can see in the beginning of a ilm is still images, there is no action or movement happening, neither is there any text appearing in the title sequence.
I mostly like the moving image and establishing shot film opening however my favourite type of film opening is the establishing shot. this is because from this shot I can see the setting and perhaps the location of the film this helps me understand the genre of the movie. For example if the establishing shot is of a deprived, rough-looking estate in London then i would think its going to be a crime/action based movie.
