An opening sequence can attract an audience as it sets up the main interest for the movie which allows the audience to feel more engaged and excited about what they are about to see. For example without a title to sequence the audience may not feel as excited at the beginning of the film which means it would be harder to convince the audience to stay interested in the film through out the duration or the course of the movie. The title sequence also is used sometimes to show a background story of a film.
